讲座简介:
Meteorological reanalyses provide best estimates of the true state of the whole atmosphere, particularly over the past 40 years. As such, they are of eminent importance for detecting changes in the climate system both in the troposphere and in the stratosphere. However, reanalyses cannot yet produce reliable distributions of the atmospheric trace gases that determine the radiative properties of the atmosphere, such as water vapor, ozone, methane or carbon dioxide. Deficiencies in the representations of these trace gases are particularly pronounced in the upper troposphere and stratosphere (UTS).
主讲人简介:
Prof. Paul Konopka received his doctorate in theoretical physics from the University of Paderborn in 1991. He is a senior scientist in the Institute for Energy and Climate Research – Stratosphere at Forschungszentrum Jülich in Germany, and currently holds a joint appointment as a professor at the University of Mainz. He has published 88 peer-reviewed journal articles on topics ranging from correlational thermodynamics to the chemistry and physics of the atmosphere. His current research focuses on transport and mixing in the atmosphere, with a particular emphasis on stratosphere–troposphere exchange in the vicinity of the Asian summer monsoon.
