In this talk, I will survey some recent advances on the research and development of big data. The focus would be on algorithms for computation, learning and inference. In particular, I will discuss various algorithms that uses the principle of divide-and-conquer, and the sampling technique.

主讲人简介：

Donghui Yan is an Assistant Professor of Mathematics and Data Science at the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth. He was previously a principal data scientist at the Walmart e-commerce Lab helping develop recommendation and personalization systems. Prior to that, he worked at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and Intel Research Lab, Berkeley. He received his PhD in Statistics from the University of California, Berkeley, and BS/MS in Applied Mathematics from Shanghai Jiao Tong University. His research interests lie broadly in statistical methodology and machine learning algorithms, as well as applied statistics in various domains.
